LOCATION: Horizon Elementary School
 

Horizon Elementary School is located in southeast Kent, three blocks south of Lake Meridian. We are a Title I school and serve a diverse population of about 400 students in grades kindergarten through five. We also host primary and intermediate students requiring Support Center programing in an inclusionary model.

Basic Function:

Under the direction of the Principal, the Academic Intervention Teacher assists in the students’ adjustment and integration within the general educational setting.  The Academic Intervention Teacher ensures contact with students, families, school staff, and administrators via individual, group, and family meetings to resolve student, home, and school-based academic challenges and facilitate the educational process.

 

The Academic Intervention Teacher works directly with student, teachers, and support staff to provide classroom intervention in grades K-12.  The Academic Intervention Teacher will be responsible for collaborating with classroom teachers to plan lessons in a variety of subject areas (math, health, social studies, science, etc.).  The Academic Intervention Teacher will teach in large and small groups of students within the regular classroom setting and provide additional individual and group interventions to students.
